Healthy Moms, Healthy Babies: Somalis Give Birth in America is a 33-minute educational video about childbirth for the Somali community, sponsored by Park-Nicollet Institute and the Minnesota International Health Volunteers. It is in Somali, with English subtitles. It conveys information about health care during pregnancy and childbirth by means of a fictional account of Faduma and Abdul, a young Somali-American couple and their family, friends and medical providers. The role of the nurse who provides most of the information is played by Sadia Hussein, a real-life nurse active in the Somali community in Minneapolis.

Gaining Cultural Competency is a 28 minute training video for healthcare providers. It combines an overview of domestic violence with discussion of family-based conflict resolution within East African immigrant communities and how it melds with Western medicine. Legal issues and community resources are discussed. Participants include Somali-American and European- American domestic violence advocates, physicians, and a psychologist.
